Judging Information The Business Strategy Challenge Judging Panel will consist of judges drawn from academia, professional practice, and the client Board of Directors. The panel will elect a Head Judge who will collect and record results for each competing team and serve as the tiebreaker for the Final Round. Overview As a judge for the Business Strategy Challenge, you will be evaluating each team's identification and assessment of key issues in the case, depth of analysis, clarity of explanations, choice of recommendations, and overall delivery of presentation. Each aspect of the presentation will be scored on a numerical scale, with the teams ranked by the final sum total of scores. The case for the competition will be sent to judges one week prior to the competition. A training session will be held for all judges the evening prior to the Preliminary Round. A representative from the client will be present at the training session to answer questions regarding the case. Specific scoring rubrics will be distributed at that time. Preliminary Round During the Preliminary Round, the team of judges will be broken into subpanels, and one judge per subpanel will be selected as Panel Leader. Each subpanel will be responsible for evaluating 4 teams within a Preliminary Group and select the best team from each group. The judges must select only one team to advance to the final round. The Panel Leader will cast a tiebreaking vote should multiple teams in the group receive the same scores. Final Round During the Final Round, all judges will reconvene as the full Judging Panel to evaluate the presentations of the three Finalist teams. The Finalists will be scored using the same rubric as in the Preliminary Round; however, additional questions from the full judging panel should elicit more detailed explanations or identify additional weaknesses in arguments. Should a tie exist, the Head Judge will cast the tiebreaking vote and declare the winner. |
